James D. Studebaker, OD
Dr. James D. Studebaker graduated from Randolph High School in 1958. He attended Manchester College and Butler University. Dr. Studebaker is a 1962 Graduate of the Indiana University School of Optometry and a 1977 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Optometry. He is a member of the American and Ohio Optometric Associations as well as the Contact Lens Section of the American Optometric Association. Dr. Studebaker is licensed in the treatment and management of ocular diseases. He is a Diplomate of the National Board of Examiners in Optometry and has over four decades of experience in optometry and primary eye care. Dr. Studebaker has served as a consultant to the contact lens and ophthalmic industries and has authored articles on primary eye care and ophthalmic optics. He has special interests in contact lenses as well as the management of geriatric patients with presbyopia who require multifocal lens corrections. He is also actively involved in the co management of refractive surgical patients. Dr. Studebaker serves as a Senior Examiner for the National Board of Examiners in Optometry. He is a former member of the Northmont School District Board of Education and a past board member of the Studebaker Family National Association-a family genealogical organization. Dr. Studebaker resides with his wife, Lana, in Union, Ohio. They are the proud parents of five children and twelve grandchildren.
Joseph B. Studebaker, OD, FAAO
Dr. Joseph B. Studebaker is a 1981 graduate of North mont High School. He completed undergraduate studies at The Ohio State University in 1983. In 1987 he received his Doctorate in Optometry (O.D.) from Ohio State as a Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Student. He has over two decades of experience in clinical eye health and vision care.Dr. Studebaker served as President of the Ohio Optometric Association (OOA) in 2003. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor and Extern Preceptor at The Ohio State University College of Optometry as well as a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. Dr. Studebaker is a Diplomate of the National Board of Examiners in Optometry and currently serves as a Clinical Examiner for the Board. He currently serves as a member of the Communications Group for the American Optometric Association (AOA) and he has served the State of Ohio as a motorist vision examiner for the O hio State Highway Patrol, Bureau of Motor Vehicles for the past two decades. Dr. Studebaker is a member of the AOA, the OOA and the Miami Valley Society of Optometrists. He is a member of the American Public Health Association and the Contact Lens Section of the AOA. Dr. Studebaker is widely published in the eye care literature and has edited, authored or co-authored over thirty articles on a broad range of topics including ocular disease, ocular pharmacology, optometry, practice management, managed care and contact lens management. He lectures nationally on contact lens management and related topics. He also lectures at The Ohio State University College of Optometry on ocular pharmacology, eye disease management, glaucoma and ocular imaging technologies including spectral domain optical coherence tomography. Dr. Studebaker has conducted numerous clinical investigational studies for several ophthalmic and contact lens manufacturers, including investigational studies for the United States Food and Drug Administration. He received the Annual Writer’s Award from Optometric Management magazine in 1996. Also in that year, Dr. Studebaker received the Outstanding Service Award from the OOA. He received this award from the Association for a second time in 2005 and, in 2008, was presented the OOA’s Drs. Warren G. and Ruth P. Morris Ohio Optometrist of the Year Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to optometry and public service. Dr. Studebaker is an active amateur astronomer and astrophotographer. He also enjoys bicycling, hiking, computers/electronics, acoustic guitar and digital photography. Dr. Studebaker’s wife, Tammy, is a doctor of veterinary medicine and graduate of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She is a veteran of the United States Army. Drs. Studebaker reside in Union and are the proud parents of three young children.
Peter A. Studebaker, OD
Dr. Peter A. Studebaker graduated in 1982 from Northmont High School. He received a B.S. degree in Zoology in 1987 from The Ohio State University. In 1991 he received his Doctorate in Optometry (O.D.) from The Ohio State University College of Optometry. Dr. Studebaker is a member of the American Optometric and Ohio Optometric Associations. He is licensed in the treatment and management of ocular diseases. Dr. Studebaker has served on the staff of the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Dayton, Ohio where he has participated in the VA-based clinical residency training of numerous optometry students.
Dr. Studebaker currently serves as a Clinical Instructor in optometry for The Ohio State University College of Optometry. He has a special interest in the management of patients with ocular diseases–including glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetes-related eye conditions–as well as the management of low vision and pediatric patients. Dr. Studebaker and his wife, Susan, reside in Ludlow Falls with their daughters Shelby and Rose, and their son Jacob.
